My name is Crystal Lashelle Lax, and I stayed at Echo Suites by Wyndham at 5831 Alta Lake Drive in Indianapolis with my daughter, Natisha, during one of the most painful times of our lives. We came here after the tragic death of my son, Antoine Jermaine Lax, who was killed on September 4, 2025. My son’s ashes were delivered to this hotel. Instead of receiving care or professionalism, we experienced harassment, disrespect, and stereotyping from a staff member named Pam.

Throughout our stay, we felt judged and spoken to in a degrading tone. Personal and inappropriate questions were asked about our private matters—questions no hotel staff has the right to ask. My daughter was questioned about her medical and legal background in a way that felt completely unprofessional and intrusive.

We paid $1,700 for the month, yet we were treated as if we were not valued guests at all.

Additionally, we were unfairly blamed for the behavior of another individual who we had been trying to help due to his disability and lack of family support. Instead of investigating the situation or speaking to us directly, the hotel involved the police and forced us out immediately, on Veterans Day, with nowhere to go, despite my serious health issues including heart A-fib and severe arthritis requiring a walker.

No compassion. No understanding. No professionalism. No attempt at conflict resolution.

After many years of staying at Wyndham hotels nationwide, this is the first time I have ever been treated this way. This experience added emotional harm on top of existing grief from my son’s death. We were not just overlooked—we were dismissed, profiled, and pushed out without cause.

I cannot recommend this hotel. Until the staff is properly trained in professional conduct, fair treatment, and appropriate guest communication, this location is not a safe or respectful environment for grieving families, the elderly, people with disabilities, or anyone seeking dignity.
