THE FLESH VS. THE SPIRIT: A CALL TO HEAVENLY SPEECH AND HEAVENLY LIVING BY: MINISTER EVANGELIST CRYSTAL LASHELLE LAX

1. The Core Message
A believer cannot speak like the world, think like the world, or compare like the world and still claim to be walking in the Spirit. Flesh produces fleshly words. Spirit produces spiritual fruit. When we are reborn, we are reborn into a new system—God’s system, not the world’s.
2. What the Bible Says About the Flesh and the Spirit
A. The Flesh Speaks from Earthly Thinking
Romans 8:5–8 — “Those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh… the mind governed by the flesh is death.” Fleshly speech comes from a fleshly mind.
Galatians 5:19–21 — “The works of the flesh are evident…” Included in this list are strife, jealousy, fits of anger, rivalries, envy—all rooted in comparison and tearing others down.
James 3:10 — “Out of the same mouth come blessing and cursing. My brothers, this should not be.” A saved mouth cannot speak unsaved words.
B. The Spirit Speaks from a Renewed Mind
Colossians 3:1–2 — “Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.” A godly man or woman must be heaven-focused, not world-focused.
Galatians 5:22–23 — “The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness…” Spirit-filled people speak Spirit-filled words.
Ephesians 4:29 — “Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth…” God demands a sanctified tongue.
3. The Danger of Fleshly Speech
When believers say things like:
“Look how fat she is.”
“He ain’t nothing.”
“She’ll never be anything.”
“I’m better than them.”
This is not harmless talk. It is:
Worldly
Carnal
Demonic in origin (James 3:14–16)
It aligns us with the system God delivered us from, not the Kingdom He brought us into.
Lot’s Wife as a Warning
Genesis 19:26 — “But Lot’s wife looked back… and became a pillar of salt.” She represents people who:
Want God but still crave the world
Are saved but still speak like Sodom
Are delivered but still think like bondage
Fleshly people get stuck, unable to move into destiny.
4. The Identity of the Reborn Believer
A. You Are a New Creation
2 Corinthians 5:17 — “If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away.” The old mouth, old mindset, old comparisons, old insults—all must die.
B. You Belong to a New System
Romans 12:2 — “Be transformed by the renewing of your mind.” You cannot live by the world’s belief system and claim Kingdom identity.
John 17:16 — “They are not of the world, even as I am not of the world.” We live in the world, but we do not speak, think, or behave like it.
C. Faith Anchors Us in Chaos
Hebrews 6:19 — “We have this hope as an anchor for the soul.” The world is chaotic, hateful, competitive, and comparison-driven. But faith keeps us anchored, stable, and spiritually minded.
5. The Mandate for God’s People
A reborn believer must:
Set their mind on heaven
Guard their tongue
Refuse worldly comparisons
Speak life, not death
Walk in the Spirit, not the flesh
Represent God’s Kingdom, not the world’s culture
This is not optional. This is Kingdom identity.
6. A Prophetic Call to the Church
God is calling His people to:
Mature speech
Sanctified thinking
Spirit-led reactions
Heavenly identity
Kingdom discipline
The world speaks death. The Kingdom speaks life.
The world compares. The Kingdom edifies.
The world tears down. The Kingdom builds up.
The world mocks. The Kingdom restores.
7. Closing Exhortation
This message carries a deliverance edge. It confronts the tongue, the mind, and the identity of the believer. It calls people out of Sodom, out of comparison, out of carnality, and into Spirit-led living.
A believer who refuses to crucify the flesh will remain stuck like Lot’s wife. But a believer who walks in the Spirit will move into destiny, purpose, and Kingdom maturity.
