FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Houston, Texas — September 4, 2025 marked a tragic and unjust loss when Antoine Jermaine Lax, a 38-year-old Black man from Indiana, was murdered by Jeremy Davidson, a white male suspect, at InTown Suites, 12010 Kuykendahl Road, Houston, Texas.
Antoine, born April 1, 1987, had just moved to Houston seeking employment and a new beginning.
Only three days after his arrival, as he returned to his hotel room, he was shot multiple times in the back. Investigators recovered two firearms from the scene.
Despite these facts, mainstream media outlets have been silent leaving his grieving family to fight for justice largely on their own.
Antoine was a kind, faith-filled man raised in the C.O.G.I.C. Pentecostal Church alongside his mother and siblings. He believed in helping others, mentoring young people, and standing firm in faith and community love.
Now his mother, Minister Crystal Lashelle Lax Certified Paralegal and Attorney Assistant — and leader of Jesus Christ Ministry Outreach, is publicly calling for:
Civil-rights and criminal-justice attorneys to assist with legal representation.
Community advocates and media partners to help bring national attention to this racially motivated murder.
Respect and protection for her family, who continue to endure cyberbullying, body-shaming, and exploitation of their grief for social-media profit.
Minister Lax, who lives with heart and kidney failure, has been targeted by cruel online harassment instead of receiving empathy and support. Her children
Dominique Sandra Marie Lax, Natisha Vernelle Lax, and Anthony Maurice Verlin Jones — also face ridicule and illegal video recordings during their mourning.
“How can people be so cruel?” Minister Lax asks.
“My son was murdered. I’m battling health challenges every day. All I want is peace, prayer, and justice—not mockery while I grieve.”
This tragedy highlights America’s ongoing crisis of racially motivated violence and the urgent need for accountability, transparency, and reform.
Antoine’s life mattered. His story deserves to be told. His family deserves justice—not silence.
