INTRODUCTION
We, the undersigned citizens and residents of the United States, respectfully petition the federal government to address the growing risks posed by modern surveillance technology that may be used unlawfully to spy on individuals inside private spaces.
With rapid technological advancement, electronic surveillance devices can be concealed in ways that make them difficult to detect. These devices may transmit signals through radio frequencies or wireless networks and may potentially be used to invade the privacy of Americans in locations such as:
• Private homes
• Hotel rooms
• Domestic violence shelters
• Temporary safe housing for vulnerable individuals
• Other protected living spaces
Domestic violence shelters are intended to be safe environments where women and children can find protection from abuse. The possibility that hidden surveillance devices could be used to monitor these locations raises serious concerns regarding privacy, safety, and personal security.
PURPOSE OF THIS PETITION
We respectfully request that the federal government raise public awareness and explore technological solutions to protect citizens from unlawful electronic surveillance.
Specifically, we propose research and development into accessible detection systems capable of identifying suspicious radio frequency transmissions or signals associated with hidden surveillance equipment.
Such protective systems could potentially be installed on buildings or rooftops as a protective layer capable of scanning surrounding airwaves and alerting occupants when unusual or unauthorized signal activity is detected.
The goal of such systems would be to provide individuals with an early warning of possible technological intrusion and to help ensure the privacy and safety of those within the building.
WHY THIS MATTERS
The United States is entering a new technological era. As technology advances, new protections must also be developed to safeguard the privacy and security of American citizens.
People should be able to feel safe in their homes, in shelters, and in other private spaces without fear of hidden surveillance or electronic intrusion.
Greater public awareness and the development of detection technologies could help prevent misuse of surveillance tools and strengthen protections for vulnerable individuals.
REQUEST TO GOVERNMENT LEADERS
We respectfully request that federal leaders, technology experts, and relevant agencies evaluate this issue and consider initiatives that include:
• Public education regarding electronic surveillance risks
• Research into consumer-accessible detection technologies
• Safety technology standards for shelters and private residences
• Increased awareness of cyber and electronic privacy threats
By addressing these concerns proactively, the United States can help protect its citizens while adapting to the realities of modern technology.
Respectfully submitted,
